New Juaben South Assembly Boosts Sanitation Efforts with Distribution of Tools and Equipment

The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has strengthened efforts to improve environmental sanitation and beautify the regional capital, Koforidua, through the procurement and distribution of sanitation tools, equipment and waste bins.

The initiative forms part of activities marking the National Sanitation Day Exercise aimed at promoting cleanliness and ensuring a healthier environment for residents.

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, together with the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, distributed the items to volunteers and members of Cadet Corps drawn from various Senior High Schools in Koforidua.

The tools and equipment were used by the volunteers to undertake a massive clean-up exercise, which included sweeping principal streets, desilting choked gutters and removing refuse from strategic locations across the regional capital.

Speaking during the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive underscored the importance of community participation in maintaining a clean environment and urged residents to adopt responsible waste disposal practices to sustain the gains made through the sanitation campaign.

The Eastern Regional Minister commended the volunteers for their dedication and encouraged citizens to support sanitation initiatives aimed at improving public health and enhancing the image of Koforidua.

The clean-up exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly to promote environmental cleanliness, prevent flooding and create a more attractive and healthy municipality for residents and visitors alike.
