The Mamprugu Moagduri District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 6 MMDAs in the North East Region.
The District was carved from West Mamprusi and was created in the year 2012 and was inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.
Mamprugu Moagduri District with its capital as Yagaba has a total land size of 2,150sq kilometers and is located within longitudes 0°35’W and 1°45’W and Latitude 9°55’N and 10°35’N.
It shares boundaries with North Gonja District to the west, Kumbungu District to the south, Sissala East Municipal in the Upper West Region, Builsa South District in the Upper East Region and West Mamprusi Municipal in the Northern Region.
The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 68,746 with 34,053 males and 34,693 females.
