The Amenfi Central District (formerly Wassa Amenfi Central)  is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 14 MMDAs in the Western Region.


The District with its administrative capital Manso Amenfi was carved from Wassa Amenfi East and forms part of the new districts and municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.


The Amenfi Central District is located in the middle part of the Western Region and lies between latitudes 5 o 20’N and 6o 7’N and longitudes 2 o 9’W and 2o 27’W. It has an estimated land size of 1,845.9 square kilometres with 131 communities.


It is bounded to the north by Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal and Upper Denkyira West District and Sefwi Wiaso Municipal; to the north-west by Aowin Municipal; to the south by Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal; to the east by Wassa Amenfi East Municipal and to the west by Amenfi West Municipal.


The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 119,117 with

63,212 males and 55,905 females.
