The Krowor Municipal is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region.
The Krowor Municipal Assembly is carved out of the Ledzekuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly as one of the 38 newly created and upgraded District Assemblies in 2018.
Created with Legislative Instrument (LI) 2318 the Krowor Municipal Assembly has its capital as Nungua.
It was inaugurated on March 15, 2018 alongside other 37 newly created districts.
Krowor Municipal Assembly lies on the coast and covers an area of (sq km) and located on Longitude (o ’N) and on Latitude (o W).
The Krowor Municipality is bounded on west by Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly, while a small portion of the north aligns with the Accra-Tema motorway and on the east by Tema West Municipal Assembly and on the south by the Gulf of Guinea.
The population of the Municipality according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 143,012 with 70,735 males and 72,277 females.
