The Amansie Central District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 of MMDAs in the Ashanti Region and Jacobu is the Administrative capital of the District.
Amansie Central District was carved out of the erstwhile Bekwai Municipal in 2004 by Legislative Instrument (L1) 1774, in 2004 and is located in the southern part of the Ashanti Region. It can be found within Latitude 6000N and 6030N and Longitudes 1000W and 2000W.
The District shares common boundaries with Amansie East District to the north east, Amansie West District to the west, Obuasi Municipal to the south east, Adansi North District to the east, Adansi South District to the south and Upper Denkyira in the Central Region to the south.
The population of the District according to the 2021 Population and Housing Census stands at 93,052
with 48,393 males 44,659 females.
