The Achiase District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 33 MMDAs in the Eastern Region
The Achiase District Assembly is carved out of the Birim South District Assembly as one of the 6 newly created and District Assemblies in 2018.
Created with Legislative Instrument (LI) 2370 the Achiase District Assembly has its capital as Akim Achiase.
It was inaugurated together with five other assemblies inaugurated by the government of Ghana on Tuesday February 9th 2019.
The District covers an estimated land area of 501 sqkm. It shares boundaries with Birim Central Municipal in the north-east, Birim South District to the west and Asikuma Odoben-Brakwa District and the Agona East District to the south.
The population of the Municipalities according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 56,348 with 27,412 males and females 28,936.
