The Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 of MMDAs in the Ashanti Region with Ejura as its administrative capital.


The Ejura-Sekyedumase District was carved out of the former Sekyere and Offinso Districts by a Legislative Instrument (L.I1400) in 1998 and was upgraded to a Municipal status by L.I 2098 in 2012.


The Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality is located in the Northern part of the Ashanti Region lies within Longitudes 1°5’ W and 1°39’W and Latitudes 7°9’N and 7°36’ N. It has a large land area of about 1340.1 square kilometers and constitutes about 7.3 percent of the region’s total land area.


The Municipality shares boundaries with Atebubu Amantin Municipal to the northwest, Mampong Municipality to the east, Sekyere South District to the south and the Offinso Municipality to the west.


The population of the Municipality according to the 2021 Population and Housing Census stands at 137,672 with 68,551 males and 69,121 females.
