The Kpandai District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 16 MMDAs in the Northern Region.
Kpandai District was carved out of the East Gonja Municipal on 29th of February 2008 by an Act of Parliament through a Legislative Instrument 1885. It has Kpandai as its administrative capital.
The District is located at the south-eastern corner of the Northern Region of Ghana and lies between latitudes 8º N and 9.29º N and longitudes 0.29 º E and 1.26ºW. The district has a total land surface area of 2,102 Km Square.
The Kpandai District is bordered to the north by Nanumba South Municipal, East Gonja Municipal to the west, Krachi West District to the south-west and Nkwanta North District to the east.
The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 126,213 with 62,881 males and 63,332 females.
