The Akatsi North District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 18 of Municipalities and Districts in the Volta Region.

The District is located in the south-eastern part of the Volta Region and has a land area of 324 square kilometres which was curved from Akatsi District  with its Administrative capital Ave Dakpa.

The District shares boundaries with Akatsi South Municipal to the south, to the north with Adaklu District, to the west with Central Tongu District and to the east with the Republic of Togo.

The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 32,541 with 15,146 males and 17,395 females.
