The Shai Osudoku District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 29  MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region

The Shai Osudoku District (formerly Dangme West) is situated in the southeastern part of Ghana, lying between latitude 5° 45’ south and 6° 05’ North and Longitude 0° 05’ East and 0° 20’ West.

The District was carved out of the former Dangme District in 1988 as a result of a national re-demarcation exercise carried out in relation to decentralization reforms in the country. Administrative Capital of the District is Dodowa.

The Shai Osudoku District shares boundaries with Yilo Krobo Municipal, Lower Manya Krobo Municipal and Asuogyaman District to the north respectively, to the east with Ada West District, to the south with Ningo Prampram District and to the west with Akuapem North Municipal and Tema Metropolitan respectively.

The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 105,610 with 53,136 males and 52,474 females.
