The Asante Akim South Municipal is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 of MMDAs in the Ashanti Region.
The Municipality is located at the eastern part of the region with its eastern boarder forming part of the regional boundary dividing the Ashanti and Eastern Regions.
With the capital as Juaso, it covers a total surface area of about 1,153.3 square which form about five percent (5%) of the total area of the Ashanti Region.
It shares boundaries with the Asante Akim Central Municipal in the north, Asante Akim North Municipality in the northwest and the Bosome-Freho District in the south-west, all in Ashanti Region. On the eastern borders are the Birim North, Akyeremansa, Kwahu West Districts and Kwahu South Municipal all in the Eastern Region
The population of the Municipal according to the 2021 Population and Housing Census stands at 123,633 with 61,715 males and 61,918 females.
