The site handover ceremony was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, marking the formal commencement of activities towards the implementation of the project.
The project comprises a three-unit classroom block with an office and a store, a four-seater water closet (W/C) toilet facility, and a mechanized borehole to provide a reliable source of water for drinking and sanitation purposes.
The MCE was accompanied by management officials of the Assembly, including technical representatives from the Municipal Works Department and the Central Administration. Members of the project team and the contractor were also present to receive the site and discuss the project layout and construction schedule.
Addressing chiefs and elders of Saabo, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah emphasized the importance of providing educational infrastructure alongside essential sanitation and water facilities to improve teaching and learning conditions.
She noted that access to clean water and proper toilet facilities was essential to maintaining good hygiene among pupils, creating a healthy school environment and minimizing sanitation-related challenges that could disrupt academic activities.
The Municipal Works Department also urged the contractor to adhere strictly to the approved engineering specifications, use quality construction materials and ensure that the project was completed within the agreed timeframe.
For their part, community leaders expressed appreciation to the Assembly for prioritizing the needs of the local school and pledged their support and cooperation to facilitate the smooth execution of the project.
The initiative is expected to contribute to improved educational infrastructure, promote better sanitation practices and enhance access to safe water for pupils and residents of Saabo when completed.
