The sod-cutting ceremonies, held at the respective project sites, marked the commencement of construction works aimed at strengthening social infrastructure and improving the living conditions of residents in the beneficiary communities.
At Tanokrom, the Assembly is set to construct a two-unit Kindergarten (KG) block with ancillary facilities to provide a more conducive learning environment for young children and strengthen early childhood education.
At Tokwai Odumasi, a three-unit classroom block will be constructed to ease overcrowding and improve teaching and learning conditions for pupils.
Meanwhile, Dwendwenase will benefit from a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, which will include a two-unit staff accommodation block, a four-seater water closet (W/C) facility and a mechanized borehole to provide a reliable water supply for the facility.
The MCE was accompanied by key management officials of the Assembly, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, the Municipal Works Engineer and the Municipal Planning Officer. The contractors assigned to the projects were also present to receive the sites and review the relevant technical specifications ahead of construction.
Addressing chiefs and residents in the beneficiary communities, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah explained that the projects form part of the Assembly’s efforts to extend development to communities and bridge infrastructure gaps between rural and urban settlements.
She emphasized that education and healthcare remain key priorities of her administration, noting that improved school facilities and accessible healthcare infrastructure are essential to community development.
The Municipal Works Engineer charged the contractors to comply with approved building regulations, maintain high construction standards and complete the projects within the agreed timelines.
For their part, traditional leaders and residents of Tanokrom, Tokwai Odumasi and Dwendwenase expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the interventions and pledged their cooperation with the contractors to ensure the smooth execution of the projects.
When completed, the projects are expected to improve early childhood and primary education, strengthen access to primary healthcare and enhance essential services for residents across the three communities.
