The Dormaa West District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 12 of Municipalities and Districts in the Bono Region.

 was carved from Dormaa and forms part of the new Districts and Municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012 and has a total land area of  369 Square Kilometres


The Dormaa West District is located in the western part of the Bono Region with the District capital as Nkrankwanta.


It has boundaries in the north by the Dormaa Central Municipality, in the east by Asunafo North Municipality, in the west by La Cote d’Ivoire and in the south-west by Bia East District.


The population of the District according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 47,913 With

25,522 males 22,391 female
