The Ablekuma North Municipal is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region.
The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly is carved out of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly as one of the 38 newly created and upgraded districts Assemblies in 2018.
Created with LI 2308, the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has its capital as Darkuman, the Municipal Assembly is located in the south-western part of Accra Region.
Ablekuma North Municipal was inaugurated on March 15, 2018 alongside other 37 newly created districts.
It shares boundaries with Ga Central Municipal to the north, Ablekuma West Municipal to the south, Okaikwei North Municipal to the east and Weija Gbawe Municipal to the west.
The population of the Municipality according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 159,208 with 76,782 males and 82,426 females.
