The Ga East Municipal is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 29  MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region

The Ga East Municipal Assembly is located at the northern part of Greater Accra Region. The Administrative capital of the Municipality is Abokobi.

The Municipality shares boundaries with the Ga West Municipal to the west, the La Kwantanang Municipal to the east, Accra Metropolitan to the south and the Akwapim South District to the north.

The population of the Municipality according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 283,379 with 140,015 males and 143,364 females.
