The redevelopment forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to improve trading infrastructure, enhance economic activities and create a more organised and conducive environment for traders and consumers in the municipality.

Meanwhile, traders affected by the demolition have appealed to the Ga East Municipal Assembly to provide them with temporary alternative spaces to continue their businesses while construction of the new 24-hour market is underway.

The traders said the demolition had disrupted their livelihoods and expressed concern about how they would sustain their businesses during the redevelopment period.

They therefore called on the Assembly to urgently identify and allocate suitable spaces where they could operate until the new market was completed.

They also appealed for clear communication from the Assembly on the redevelopment timeline and arrangements for their eventual relocation to the new facility.
