The Adansi North District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 of MMDAs in the Ashanti Region. 


With its capital as Fomena the District is located on Longitude 1.50 W and latitude 6.30 N. The district therefore falls within a typical tropical region of Africa, which characteristically experiences high temperatures and high rainfall throughout the year.


This puts the Adansi North District into a Semi-Equatorial climatic region. The District was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 1758 and covers an area of approximately 1140 sq km representing about 4.7% of the total area of Ashanti Region.
 

The District is bounded in the south-west by Obuasi Municipal, in the south by Adansi South District, in south-east by Bosome Freho District, in the north-east by Bekwai Municipal and by west Amansie Central District.


The population of the District according to the 2021 Population and Housing Census stands at 
54,155

with 26,782 males and 27,373 females.
