Maame Sarfoah Appiah was confirmed on May 15, 2025, after securing the support of 59 out of 66 Assembly Members who took part in the voting process.

The results were officially announced by the Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Franca Dei Yeboah, following the completion of the confirmation exercise.

Her confirmation marks a significant milestone for the municipality, particularly in advancing women's participation in local governance and leadership.

Maame Sarfoah Appiah, who is a former two-time parliamentary candidate, brings political and community engagement experience to her new role.

In outlining her vision for the municipality, the newly confirmed MCE pledged to run an open and inclusive administration that would promote unity, collaboration and development.

She said her administration would seek to work closely with stakeholders to identify and address the development needs of communities across the municipality.

Key among her intended partnerships are the central government, heads of local government departments and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.

Maame Sarfoah Appiah emphasized that sustainable development would require collective efforts and cooperation among political

leaders, traditional authorities, Assembly Members, government officials and residents.

Her confirmation is expected to usher in a new phase of local leadership in Asante-Akim South, with emphasis on inclusive governance, stakeholder collaboration and improved development outcomes for residents.

The achievement also represents an important step for women in local government, with Maame Sarfoah Appiah becoming the first woman to serve as MCE of the Asante-Akim South Municipal Assembly.
