Asante Akim S: District Assemblies must rise to move development

He said they should support best practices and strive for excellence in service delivery.
He made the call at a meeting held with the staff of the Asante-Akim South District Assembly at Juaso, the district capital.
Dr. Arthur who was in the district as part of a working visit to the Ashanti Region to have discussions with local government workers, was accompanied by the Chief Director of the LGS, Mr. Joseph Dassana, was.
He encouraged the workers to adopt good work ethics to substantially increase productivity.
He announced of plans to introduce biometric clocking system in all the assemblies to check lateness and absenteeism.
Dr. Arthur used the occasion to draw attention to the need for the MMDAs to find modern ways to improve their internally-generated revenue performance.
He said this was essential because they could not entirely depend on the Common Fund for performance of their developmental agenda.
He reminded the internal auditors of the assemblies to be positive to prevent any acts of financial malfeasance.
Mr. Alexander Frimpong, the District Chief Executive (DCE), promised to ensure transparency in the managing of the assembly’s resources.
