EDUCATIONAL SECTOR
EDUCATION

Education service delivery and infrastructure provision remains a critical input to the development of the human resource based of the district. Improvement in education has been a priority in the District with much attention and commitment given to it. The District has 1 Senior High/Technical School, 24 Junior High Schools, 49 Primary Schools and 35 Pre-schools. Inadequate school infrastructure is negatively affecting quality teaching and learning in the Municipality. There are some schools with deplorable infrastructure conditions that need both major and minor repairs. More basic schools need to be established to improve on the accessibility for both girls and boys especially in rural areas of the District. The Universal Basic Education also contributed immensely to the expansion of access to basic school education in the district. However, many children in the remote communities are still not in school. Further, school dropout among female students due to teenage pregnancy is on the rise.
