Recognising education as the backbone of human resource development, the District Assembly has prioritised the sector, channeling attention and commitment toward expanding access and improving learning outcomes. Currently, the district boasts one Senior High/Technical School, 24 Junior High Schools, 49 Primary Schools, and 35 Pre-schools, serving communities across the area.
However, despite these gains, significant challenges remain. Inadequate infrastructure continues to hamper effective teaching and learning, with some schools operating in deplorable conditions that require urgent major and minor repairs. The situation is particularly concerning in rural communities, where access to education remains limited due to the absence of enough basic schools.
While the Universal Basic Education (UBE) policy has significantly expanded access over the years, many children in remote parts of the district are still out of school. Even more troubling is the rising incidence of school dropout among female students, largely linked to teenage pregnancy — a growing social challenge that threatens the educational progress of young girls.
Education stakeholders in the district are calling for renewed investment in infrastructure, stronger community engagement, and targeted interventions to tackle teenage pregnancy and keep girls in school.
With sustained commitment and strategic action, Mamprugu-Moagduri is determined to turn its education challenges into opportunities — building not just classrooms, but a resilient and empowered generation ready to drive the district’s future development.
