Five LUSPA committees inaugurated in Atebubu

Five Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority LUSPA committees for the Atebubu-Amantin, Sene East and West as well as the Pru East and West Districts of the Bono East region have been inaugurated in Atebubu.

The committees are mandated to promote the sustainable development of land and human settlements in their various localities through effective planning, coordination and judicious use of land resources.

They are chaired by the various chief executives with physical planning officers as secretaries and have technocrats of varying backgrounds, assembly members and traditional authorities as members.

Performing the inaugurating on behalf of the Bono East regional minister, the Atebubu-Amantin municipal chief executive Hon. Masud Musah Ayarba Thomas said the ceremony is a demonstration of government’s commitment to an institutional collaboration in spatial and land use planning and management adding that effective planning is essential for balanced development, environmental protection and an improvement in the quality of lives of the people.

He said the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority is a creation of the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act 925 of 2016 which has the primary objective of guiding land management and spatial planning for sustainable development.

Hon. Ayarba Thomas administered the oaths of office, allegiance and secrecy to members of the committees and assured them of government’s support for an effective delivery of their mandate.

The Bono East regional director of LUSPA Mr. Christian Addei Manu took members through their mandate as well as some do’s and don’ts of their office.

Present were district chief executives for all the affected districts and the Bono East regional Information Officer Mr. Paul Desmond Tutu.
