The affected areas included Boi/Akporman, Happy Home Bridge, Pantang Village, Abokobi-Taiman Road, Ashongman, Agbogba, Abokobi-Pantang Road and Taifa Down, where overflowing drains and waterways left sections of roads submerged and difficult to access.

The rains, which lasted for several hours, caused floodwaters to inundate major roads and adjoining areas, disrupting vehicular and pedestrian movement. In some locations, motorists were compelled to halt their journeys, while others cautiously maneuvered through the floodwaters to reach their destinations.

At the Happy Home Bridge, rising water levels slowed traffic and heightened concerns among residents and road users. Similar scenes were witnessed at Taifa Down, Abokobi, Agbogba and Ashongman, where portions of roads and surrounding areas became flooded, temporarily affecting access and mobility.

Residents attributed the recurring flooding to clogged drains, poor waste disposal practices and rapid urbanization, which they believe have impeded the natural flow of stormwater within the municipality.

They called on the relevant authorities to intensify desilting exercises, enforce sanitation regulations and invest in improved drainage infrastructure to mitigate the perennial flooding challenge.

Although no casualties were reported as of the time of filing this report, the flooding caused considerable inconvenience to commuters and renewed concerns about the municipality’s readiness for the peak rainy season.

Residents have meanwhile been advised to remain vigilant during periods of heavy rainfall and to avoid driving or walking through flooded areas in order to minimize the risk of accidents and other emergencies.
