Narcotics Control Commission Pays Courtesy Call on Kintampo South DCE

The Bono East Regional Office of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has paid a courtesy call on the Kintampo South District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Wilfred Zuuri, to formally invite him and officials of the District Assembly to the launch of the 2026 World Drug Day celebration.

The event is scheduled to take place at Amoma, a community within the Kintampo South District.

The NACOC delegation, led by Mr. Sulemana Mohammed, Head of Drug Demand Reduction, briefed the DCE on the significance of World Drug Day. He explained that the celebration seeks to raise public awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Ghana and beyond.

Mr. Mohammed also outlined a series of activities planned for the launch and appealed for the support and active participation of the Kintampo South District Assembly.

In response, Mr. Wilfred Zuuri commended the Bono East Regional Office of NACOC for selecting Amoma to host the launch of such an important programme. He noted that the event would contribute significantly to efforts aimed at addressing substance abuse and other drug-related challenges within the district.

The DCE assured the delegation of the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the programme and collaborating with NACOC to intensify public education on the dangers of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The visit forms part of preparations towards a successful celebration of the 2026 World Drug Day in the Bono East Region.
