The District Chief Executive, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, together with the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Samuel Kwasi Gyan, led the commissioning of a newly constructed Kindergarten block at Kotokuom and the official handover of modern health staff quarters at Anwiafutu. For communities long burdened by infrastructure gaps, the moment was both symbolic and historic.
Addressing residents, the DCE highlighted the importance of continuity in development, commending his predecessor for initiating the projects through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF). He urged residents to protect and maintain the facilities to ensure lasting benefits for generations to come.
Beyond infrastructure, Hon. Issahak outlined a broader vision centered on economic empowerment. He spotlighted government-led job creation initiatives, expanded youth opportunities, and targeted incentives for cocoa farmers, urging residents to take advantage of available programmes to improve their livelihoods.
Traditional leaders welcomed the interventions with gratitude. At Kotokuom, the overlord, Nana Osei Kofi, praised the government for refurbishing the once-dangerous Kotokuom bridge, which has significantly improved safety and mobility. He, however, appealed for the completion and tarring of remaining roads to further boost local trade.
At Anwiafutu, Nana Adade Agyei described the newly commissioned health staff quarters as a game-changer for healthcare delivery. With accommodation now available for health professionals, residents expect improved services. The chief also called for road improvements to strengthen economic access to markets.
The day’s impact extended beyond infrastructure. Back at the district capital, the DCE distributed 20 sewing machines, four industrial sewing machines, and two hairdryers to apprentices and master craftspersons under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP). The initiative, which includes stipends and training incentives, is designed to equip young people with employable skills and financial independence.
Overjoyed beneficiaries described the support as tangible evidence of responsive leadership, expressing confidence that the combined investments in education, health, and skills development will accelerate growth across the district.
With renewed optimism sweeping through Kotokuom and Anwiafutu, residents say Atwima Mponua is steadily turning a corner, powered by infrastructure, opportunity, and a shared vision for progress
