The relief package, aimed at providing immediate assistance to affected residents, comprised GH¢130,000 in direct cash support to the four communities, an additional GH¢2,000 to facilitate the relocation of a shop owner occupying a drainage path, 31 boxes of cooking oil containing 372 bottles, 120 bags of rice amounting to 600 pieces of 25kg bags, as well as eight wheelbarrows and eight shovels to support clean-up activities.
At Avenor, the Mayor presented GH¢50,000, 20 boxes of cooking oil, 300 bags of 25kg rice, five wheelbarrows and five shovels to support affected households and ongoing sanitation efforts.
At Circle Neoplan Station, Hon. Allotey donated GH¢30,000, four boxes of cooking oil, 75 pieces of 25kg rice, three wheelbarrows and three shovels to assist flood victims and facilitate the clearing of debris in the area.
The Mayor also visited North Kaneshie, including the Swanlake community and Ahonfe Close, where he presented GH¢20,000, four boxes of cooking oil containing 48 bottles and 100 pieces of 5kg bags of rice to residents affected by the floods.

At Bubuashie Attico on Kanto Street in the Bubui Electoral Area, Hon. Allotey presented GH¢30,000, three boxes of cooking oil containing 36 bottles and 125 pieces of 5kg bags of rice. The items were received by the community leader, Madam Stella Yanky, on behalf of the affected residents.
Addressing residents during the visits, Hon. Allotey explained that the donations were made on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Ernest Adomako, to express solidarity with the affected communities and provide immediate relief to victims.
He acknowledged the extensive damage caused by the floods, including the destruction of mattresses, cooking utensils, food supplies and other personal belongings, and assured residents that the Assembly would conduct a comprehensive assessment to facilitate additional support.
The Mayor further disclosed that the AMA had deployed refuse compactors and sanitation personnel to undertake free clean-up exercises in the affected communities. He appealed to residents to desist from dumping refuse into drains and gutters, stressing that such practices obstruct drainage systems and exacerbate flooding.
Hon. Allotey reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to collaborating with community leaders and relevant agencies to desilt drains, remove obstructions and implement sustainable measures to reduce the incidence of flooding across the metropolis.
He also urged residents to remain united and work closely with their community leaders to ensure the fair and transparent distribution of relief items to those most affected.
The Assembly Member for the Avenor Electoral Area, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei, expressed gratitude to the Mayor, President Mahama, the Member of Parliament and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly for their timely intervention.
According to him, the cash donations, food items and sanitation tools would provide much-needed relief to affected families and support efforts to restore normalcy in the communities.
