The exercise was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Frank Nkansah, and the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Hon. Abdul-Latif Dan, in collaboration with the Information Services Department.
During the engagement, traders, residents, and other occupants of the market were informed of the need to vacate the premises by 31st July 2026 to pave the way for the commencement of the redevelopment project.
The proposed 24-Hour Economy Market and Commercial Centre forms part of the government's broader agenda to stimulate economic growth, expand business opportunities, create sustainable employment, and provide improved trading facilities for businesses within the municipality.
Officials explained that the redevelopment is expected to transform the market into a modern commercial hub that will enhance economic activity while providing a safer and more conducive environment for traders and shoppers.
The Assembly expressed appreciation to all affected traders and residents for their understanding and cooperation and appealed to them to comply with the directive by vacating the premises within the stipulated timeline to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
