Prez Mahama Concludes Volta Region ResettingGhana Tour, Commissions Akatsi North Police Headquarters

President John Dramani Mahama has successfully concluded his two-day ResettingGhana tour of the Volta Region, reaffirming his government's commitment to fast-tracking infrastructure development, improving public services, and enhancing citizen engagement across the region.

The tour featured inspections, project commissioning, and interactive engagements with residents, traditional leaders, local government officials, and key stakeholders across the Volta Region.

On the second day of the tour, President Mahama inspected the Ho Sports Stadium and announced government's decision to reconstruct the facility into a modern multi-sports complex capable of hosting a wide range of sporting disciplines beyond football. He assured residents that funding would be secured to ensure the timely commencement of the project, describing it as a strategic investment in youth development and sports infrastructure.

The President later addressed the Resetting Ghana Citizens' Engagement at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium of Ho Technical University, where he highlighted his administration's development agenda and interacted directly with citizens.

During the forum, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, presented a comprehensive overview of ongoing development projects being undertaken across the region's 18 Municipal and District Assemblies. Sector Ministers also updated participants on major interventions and policy initiatives being implemented within their respective ministries.

President Mahama used the occasion to account for his administration's performance, engage traditional authorities and residents on governance issues, and respond to questions from members of the public on national and regional development priorities.

The tour culminated in the Akatsi North District, where President Mahama commissioned the newly completed District Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service.

The police headquarters project was initiated during the tenure of Hon. James Gunu when he served as District Chief Executive for Akatsi North. After work on the project stalled for some time, it was revived and completed through the collaborative efforts of the current District Chief Executive, Hon. Bless Kojo Katamani, and the Member of Parliament for Akatsi North, Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe.

Commissioning the facility, President Mahama described the project as a significant investment in improving security infrastructure and strengthening policing services within the district.

At the conclusion of the tour, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, expressed profound appreciation to President Mahama for his visit and unwavering commitment to the development of the Volta Region. He also thanked traditional authorities, Members of Parliament, Municipal and District Chief Executives, the security services, development partners, and residents for their support and active participation, which contributed to the success of the #ResettingGhana tour.

The successful completion of the tour underscored government's resolve to deepen citizen engagement while accelerating infrastructure and socio-economic development initiatives across the Volta Region.
