Birim North Assembly Donates 200 Bags of Cement to Support Akyem Kotoku Palace Reconstruction

The Birim North District Assembly has demonstrated its commitment to supporting traditional institutions and community development with the presentation of 200 bags of cement towards the reconstruction of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Palace at Akyem Oda.

The donation, made yesterday, was presented by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul, alongside the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Mark Addo, Mrs. Sandra Arkorh, political heads and members of the traditional leadership.

The Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, under the leadership of the Omanhene, Oseadeeyo Dr. Frimpong Manso IV, is undertaking the reconstruction of an ultra-modern palace that will serve as the new seat of the traditional authority while preserving the rich heritage, history and identity of the Kotoku people.

The reconstruction project is being driven largely by communal efforts, stakeholder support and contributions from corporate institutions and other well-wishers.

The Assembly’s contribution of 200 bags of cement is therefore intended to support the Traditional Area’s efforts to complete the important project, which is expected to become a significant landmark for the people of Akyem Kotoku.

Speaking during the presentation, DCE Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with traditional authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders to promote development and preserve important traditional institutions within the district.

He noted that traditional institutions remain important partners in local development and play a critical role in promoting unity, peace and the preservation of cultural heritage.

The Birim North District Assembly extended its best wishes to the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area and expressed optimism that the reconstruction of the palace would be successfully completed to serve present and future generations.

The Assembly further encouraged individuals, businesses, corporate institutions and other stakeholders to support the project as the Traditional Area works towards completing the historic palace.
