The workshop, organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in collaboration with BolognaFiere and Accadueo (H2O), brought together Italian water technology companies, government officials and stakeholders in Ghana's water sector to foster business partnerships, technology transfer and investment in sustainable water infrastructure.

The event focused on innovative solutions in water treatment, wastewater management, filtration systems and other modern technologies aimed at addressing Ghana's growing water challenges and supporting sustainable development.

Delivering the opening address, the Director of the Italian Trade Agency, Mr. Luigi Puca, said the workshop forms part of Italy's broader strategy to promote its technological expertise while strengthening economic cooperation with partner countries. He noted that the initiative seeks to encourage innovation, introduce advanced engineering solutions, showcase Italian water technologies and gather feedback from Ghanaian institutions to shape future collaborations.

The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Laura Ranalli, reaffirmed her country's commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Ghana through sustainable investments and technological partnerships, particularly in the water sector.

Also present at the event were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Frank Amoakohene; the Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu; and the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Gilbert Ken Yentumi, who encouraged Italian firms to explore investment opportunities in their respective regions.

The workshop featured presentations by about nine leading Italian companies, which engaged participants on cutting-edge water technologies and explored potential areas for collaboration with Ghanaian institutions.

On the sidelines of the programme, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah held discussions with Ambassador Laura Ranalli and representatives of several Italian companies to explore partnerships that could help expand potable water supply in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

During the engagements, the DCE highlighted the district's increasing demand for safe and reliable drinking water and appealed for technical expertise and investment support to improve water infrastructure for the benefit of residents.

She expressed confidence that the discussions would lead to strategic partnerships capable of delivering sustainable water solutions and advancing the Assembly's vision of improving access to clean and safe water across communities in the district.
