Greater Accra Regional Minister Engages MMDCEs on Coordinated Flood Mitigation Measures

The Greater Accra Regional Minister has held a strategic meeting with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the region to strengthen coordination and accelerate efforts aimed at mitigating flooding.

The engagement focused on developing practical and proactive strategies to address the perennial flooding challenges facing the region. Key discussions centred on improving drainage management, enhancing preparedness, enforcing planning and environmental regulations, and fostering stronger collaboration among the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.

The Minister stressed the importance of a unified approach to flood prevention, urging the MMDCEs to work closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to implement sustainable flood mitigation measures.

The meeting also highlighted the need for proactive planning and strict enforcement of regulations to reduce the impact of floods, safeguard lives and protect property, particularly during the rainy season.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively to improve resilience, strengthen disaster preparedness, and ensure safer communities throughout the Greater Accra Region.
