The exercise brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including traditional authorities, opinion leaders, Assembly officials, personnel from NADMO and the Forestry Commission, teachers, students, and community members, all demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to combat the effects of climate change, reverse land degradation, and enhance the district's ecological resilience through reforestation and environmental stewardship.
Speaking during the exercise, officials emphasized the critical role of tree planting in protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity, reducing soil erosion, and mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change.
Participants were also sensitized on the importance of preserving the environment and adopting sustainable practices to safeguard natural resources for future generations. Officers from the Forestry Commission provided practical guidance on proper tree planting methods and maintenance techniques to ensure the survival and healthy growth of the seedlings.
The highlight of the programme was the planting of tree seedlings on a recently reclaimed land at Boadua. The exercise was designed to enrich the reclaimed area, improve vegetation cover, restore ecological balance, and protect the land from further degradation.
Traditional leaders, teachers, students, Assembly officials, and community members actively participated in the planting exercise, reaffirming their collective commitment to environmental protection and sustainable land management.
The Denkyembour District Assembly described the programme as a successful intervention that has contributed significantly to promoting reforestation and environmental responsibility within the district.
The Assembly expressed its appreciation to NADMO, the Forestry Commission, traditional authorities, educational institutions, and all stakeholders whose contributions ensured the success of the exercise.
The Assembly further emphasized that sustained maintenance and protection of the planted trees would be crucial to ensuring the long-term success and environmental impact of the reforestation initiative.
