The beneficiaries received various items, including polytanks, ice chests, refrigerators, laptops and wheelchairs, to support their businesses and improve their livelihoods. This year's exercise recorded an increase in beneficiaries from 41 in the previous year to 45, reflecting the Assembly's continued efforts to expand assistance to persons with disabilities.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, assured them that persons with disabilities remain an integral part of Ghana's development agenda and will continue to benefit from government interventions.

He urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the items rather than selling them, emphasizing that the support is intended to promote economic independence, improve living standards and create sustainable sources of income. He noted that the presentation marks the second distribution of the Disability Fund since he assumed office as Municipal Chief Executive.

The Municipal Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Persons with Disabilities (GFD) in Atwima Nwabiagya South, Mr. Peter Akwasi Okyere, expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah for their continued support for persons with disabilities.

He commended the government's decision to increase the Disability Fund allocation under the District Assemblies Common Fund from 3% to 5%, describing it as a significant intervention that has strengthened the welfare and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities across the country.

Mr. Okyere further noted that, for the first time, representatives of persons with disabilities are playing a more active role in managing the fund, helping to ensure that support reaches deserving beneficiaries. He praised the government for prioritising the welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
