Sekyere Central Assembly Donates Four Motorbikes to Health Directorate to Boost Outreach Services

The Sekyere Central District Assembly (SCDA) has handed over four new jungle motorbikes to the District Health Directorate to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to health services in hard-to-reach communities across the district.

The presentation was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Samuel Somuah, together with members of the Assembly’s Management, at a ceremony attended by officials of the District Health Directorate.

According to Hon. Somuah, the donation was in response to a request from the Health Directorate for logistical support to facilitate community health outreach activities, particularly in the Afram Plains area.

He explained that the difficult terrain and limited transportation options in some parts of the district had affected the ability of health workers to regularly reach communities. The provision of the motorbikes, he said, would help address the challenge by improving the mobility of health personnel.

Hon. Somuah noted that the motorbikes would enable health workers to undertake regular community visits, conduct outreach programmes and deliver essential healthcare services more effectively in underserved and hard-to-reach areas.

He assured the District Health Directorate of the Assembly’s continued commitment to supporting the health sector and hinted at additional interventions and donations in the near future.

Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the Directorate, the District Director of Health Services, Madam Susana Nkrumah, expressed appreciation to the Sekyere Central District Assembly for responding to the Directorate’s request.

She said the difficult terrain, particularly in the Afram Plains, had over the years posed a major challenge to the movement of health staff and consequently affected community outreach activities.

Madam Nkrumah said the new motorbikes would significantly improve the ability of health workers to reach communities and enhance the delivery of healthcare services throughout the district.

She further assured the Assembly that the Directorate would ensure the proper use and maintenance of the motorbikes to maximise their usefulness and extend their lifespan.

The intervention is expected to strengthen community-based healthcare delivery in Sekyere Central, particularly in remote communities where transportation challenges have made access to health services difficult.
