He said he would meet such persons on the ground floor of the Municipal Assembly building on Wednesdays, rather than in his upstairs office, to make access easier and more dignified for them.

The MCE announced this during a durbar to distribute support items to 58 persons living with disabilities (PWDs) at the forecourt of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

He explained that the decision was prompted by the difficulty persons with mobility challenges face in climbing stairs to his office, and the need to ensure inclusive and responsive local governance.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting PWDs so they can contribute meaningfully to the development of the municipality and the country as a whole.

The MCE said the Assembly would continue to create an enabling environment for all, regardless of physical ability. PWDs at the durbar welcomed the announcement with applause, describing the move as thoughtful and inclusive.

The event also featured the distribution of support to 58 beneficiaries, including fufu pounding machines, industrial sewing machines, provisions, second-hand clothing, and medical and educational assistance. The Sunyani Municipal Health Directorate also gave a health talk on kidney diseases.
