Pru West: Don’t Politicize National Sanitation Day — Samuel Agyapong
The first Saturday of every month is earmarked as National Sanitation Day across Ghana. The day is set aside for a voluntary clean-up exercise by all residents in an effort to reduce unsanitary conditions that breed disease and cause injury.

On Saturday, 3 October 2026, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Pru West, Hon. Samuel Agyapong, urged Ghanaians, especially residents of Pru West, not to politicize the National Sanitation Day exercise instituted by the government.
He said President John Mahama introduced the exercise to help improve sanitation nationwide, not for members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and District Assembly workers alone.

Hon. Agyapong made the call when he spoke to Ghana Districts after the exercise at Prang, the capital of Pru West District.
He urged residents of Pru West to see cleanliness as next to godliness, adding: “It is better to take steps to ensure that our environment is kept clean rather than wait to be attacked by diseases.”

The Pru West District Coordinating Director and Secretary to the District Assembly, Mr. Sulemana Ali, commended the Pru West Education Directorate for encouraging schools, especially Prang Senior High School, to take part in the clean-up exercise.
