In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting PWDs to contribute meaningfully to national development. He said the assembly recognises the potential of PWDs and will continue to implement programmes that enhance their livelihoods.

The MCE also announced that he has designated Wednesdays as special days to attend to persons with mobility challenges. He explained that on such days he will meet them on the ground floor of the assembly building to make accessibility easier and more dignified.

The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Mr Seid Mubarak, urged beneficiaries to complement the government’s efforts by maintaining the items and using them for their intended purposes. He cautioned them against selling the items or leaving them unused, stressing that the support is meant to transform their lives and those of their families.
Madam Fati Issaka Koray, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), also urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors and to make productive use of the support.

The event also featured a health talk on kidney disease by Madam Felicia Konadu of the Sunyani Municipal Health Directorate, who educated the PWDs on preventive measures and healthy living.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the assembly, the government and stakeholders for the gesture, pledging to use the items judiciously.
