This migration is celebrated with the Lukusi Festival, a vibrant event that honors their journey from Notsie.
Now, if you’re curious about geography, the highest mountain in Ghana is also found in the Afadzato South District. Here are some key facts about the Afadzato South District:
The Afadzato South District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 18 of Municipalities and Districts in the Volta Region.
The District is one of the 46 Administrative Districts created in 2012 with its capital at Ve Golokuati, about 58km from Ho, 20km from Hohoe and 200km from Accra.

The District was carved out of Hohoe Municipality and legally backed and governed by two main Acts namely; Local Government Act, Act 462 of 1993, and PNDCL 327. The District was established by Legislative Instrument 2079 and inaugurated on 28th June 2012.
The District shares boundaries with the Republic of Togo to the East, Ho West District on southeast. The southwest of the District shares common boundary with South Dayi District; while on the northern section is Hohoe Municipal and the northwest is Kpando Municipal and North Dayi District. The total land area of the District is 535 square kilometers.

The population of the District according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 73,146 with 36,081 males and 37,065 females.
