According to the 2010 Population and Housing Census, about three percent (3%) of residents in the Municipality are persons with disabilities (PWDs), including those with physical, visual, hearing, and mental impairments.

For many of these individuals, daily life remains a challenge, as physical and social barriers continue to limit access to opportunities available within the community.

Advocates say disability should not be seen as inability, but rather a call for society to create equal access through inclusive policies, infrastructure, and support systems.

Stakeholders are therefore calling for strengthened interventions in areas such as education, healthcare, employment, and social protection to ensure that persons with disabilities are fully integrated into community life.

As awareness grows, the focus is shifting toward building a more inclusive society where every individual—regardless of ability—can contribute meaningfully to development in the Kwahu West Municipality.
