Ayawaso East Assembly hands over drainage project site at Nima to contractor

The project site for the construction of a “U” drain with slabs at Video Land in Nima has officially been handed over to Buildway Construction Limited, marking a significant step toward addressing persistent flooding challenges in the area.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Hon. Baba Jamal, indicated that the project is expected to be completed within six months. He emphasized the importance of the drainage system in mitigating flooding and improving sanitation in the community.

Hon. Baba Jamal further called on residents to cooperate fully with the contractor to ensure smooth execution of the project. He noted that some structures within the project area may be affected and appealed to affected property owners to support the initiative in the interest of the wider community. According to him, the successful completion of the drain will provide lasting relief from flooding and enhance safe movement, particularly for Aboboyaa operators.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, on his part, expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for his continuous support towards development in the municipality. He also urged residents to rally behind the project and cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure its timely completion.

The drainage project forms part of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly’s broader strategy to improve drainage infrastructure and effectively control flooding within the municipality.
