According to NADMO, the rescue exercise commenced at about 1:55 a.m. after distress calls were received from residents and Assembly Members reporting that several people had become trapped by rising floodwaters.
The operation was coordinated with personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Tema Naval Base of the Ghana Armed Forces, who joined forces to rescue residents in distress.
Several individuals were successfully evacuated from flood-hit areas around the Dawhenya Police Station, Terrazzo, Ososhi, and the Eno Spot area.
The rescue team later extended the operation to Afienya and its surrounding communities, particularly New Jerusalem, where families stranded by floodwaters were safely rescued.
Communities in Old Ningo and Prampram also experienced flooding, with several homes inundated and numerous families affected.
NADMO officials say assessments are currently underway to determine the full extent of the damage, with the total number of affected households and persons expected to be released after the exercise is completed.
The Organisation has urged residents to make use of the NADMO toll-free emergency number, 112, to report emergencies for swift response.
NADMO also appealed to the public to provide timely information during emergencies to enable rapid interventions and help save lives during disaster situations.
