Speaking in the aftermath of the heavy rains, the MCE expressed sympathy for families whose homes and livelihoods were affected, describing the flooding as more than a weather-related incident.
Mr. Adamu said he had witnessed the pain and distress of residents who were forced to flee their homes, with many losing their belongings to the floodwaters. He noted that the experiences of both the elderly and the youth underscored the urgent need for lasting interventions.
The MCE emphasized that the Assembly would move beyond temporary responses and focus on implementing sustainable measures to tackle the underlying causes of flooding in the municipality. He declared that the goal is to ensure that such devastating incidents do not become a recurring challenge for residents.
Mr. Adamu also called on members of the community to remain united during the recovery process by supporting one another, checking on vulnerable residents, and extending a helping hand to those in need.
He reaffirmed that the resilience and unity of the people of Ablekuma North would be key to rebuilding affected communities, stressing that collective action is essential to creating a safer and more flood-resilient municipality.
