The exercise formed part of the municipality's post-disaster recovery efforts aimed at restoring normalcy and preventing the outbreak of diseases in flood-affected communities.

The operation brought together the Assembly's Task Force, the Environmental Health Department, and the Waste Management Department, who worked to clear debris and refuse deposited by the floodwaters, desilt choked drains, and restore sanitation at the busy commercial centre.

Achimota-Abofu was among the communities hardest hit by the floods, with rising waters cutting off access to some areas, disrupting vehicular movement, and affecting businesses and residents.

Addressing the clean-up team, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger stressed the importance of swift recovery efforts to safeguard public health and restore confidence within the municipality.

"We cannot allow the floods to leave behind a legacy of disease and despair. Today, we clean. Tomorrow, we rebuild. And we do it together," the MCE stated.

He commended the dedication of officers from the various departments for their commitment to restoring cleanliness and improving environmental conditions in the affected areas.

The Assembly says the clean-up exercise is part of broader efforts to strengthen the municipality's resilience against future flooding while ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents.
