The exercise involved the demolition and removal of illegal structures erected along storm drains, as well as the clearing of roadside debris to ensure the free flow of rainwater and improve environmental cleanliness.
Leading the exercise, Hon. Abdul emphasized the Assembly's commitment to enforcing planning regulations and maintaining clean, safe, and accessible public spaces. He noted that removing unauthorized structures from drainage channels is essential to reducing the risk of flooding, particularly during the rainy season.
The MCE urged residents, traders, and property owners to comply with Assembly by-laws by refraining from encroaching on public spaces and waterways, stressing that such practices endanger lives, obstruct drainage systems, and undermine efforts to keep the municipality clean.
He further assured residents that the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly would continue to carry out similar exercises as part of its commitment to promoting environmental sanitation, improving urban management, and protecting lives and property across the municipality.
