Date Created : 9/7/2026 : Story Author : Susana Danso/Ghanadistricts.com
The relief items were presented following a flooding incident on June 19, 2026, which affected several communities in the district. Residents of Apagya and Afrancho were among those severely affected, with several families displaced and left in need of immediate assistance.
The items presented to the affected families included mattresses, buckets, cups, plates, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking oil, rice, soap and other essential household supplies.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah expressed sympathy to the affected families and assured them of the Assembly’s continued commitment to supporting residents during difficult times.
She urged the beneficiaries to remain hopeful as they worked towards recovering from the impact of the floods. The DCE also advised residents to take precautionary measures and support efforts aimed at reducing the effects of future flooding in their communities.
The Head of NADMO, Mr. Ciba Garba, also cautioned residents against building on waterways and urged the public to desist from dumping refuse into gutters and drainage channels.
He explained that keeping waterways and drainage systems clear would help improve the free flow of rainwater and reduce the risk of flooding, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly and NADMO for the timely intervention. They said the relief items would provide much-needed support and help ease some of the difficulties they faced following the floods.
