The visit followed concerns raised by traders, commercial drivers and other users of the station over the location, safety and possible health implications of the facility.

He was joined by the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey; the New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Ransford Owusu Boakye and regional and constituency executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking to the media, Hon. George assured traders, drivers and commuters at the Koforidua Kumasi Lorry Station that the 32meter network mast earmarked for the location will pose no health or safety threat. Instead, he said, it will improve connectivity.

He commended the New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, for his leadership in handling the issue and for his swift public education on the matter.

The Municipal Chief Executive also participated in the engagement and explained the Assembly’s position on the project. He said the Assembly’s role included supporting infrastructure that can improve digital connectivity while engaging affected stakeholders and working with relevant technical institutions and project developers to address legitimate concerns.

Hon. Owusu Boakye expressed appreciation to Hon. George and Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey for visiting Koforidua and engaging directly with the people.

He advised residents of Koforidua and beyond to remain calm, patient and cooperative, noting that the installation of the new mast is for the betterment of connectivity and businesses within the municipality.
