The beneficiaries, whose needs were assessed by the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, received items including industrial sewing machines, chest freezers and laptops, in addition to financial assistance to strengthen their livelihoods.
Presenting the items on Friday, October 2, 2026, the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support and turn the opportunities into sustainable sources of income.

He said the intervention was aimed at promoting the economic independence of PWDs and enabling them to engage in productive activities.
Looking ahead, the Mayor proposed the establishment of a skills training centre for PWDs in collaboration with the Ghana Federation of Disability (GFD).
He said the centre would provide continuous skills training and create opportunities for PWDs to acquire practical skills that could enhance their economic independence.
Mr Francis Asamoah Baffour, Kumasi Metro President of the GFD, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the support and assured that the beneficiaries would be monitored to ensure that the items were used for their intended purposes.
