The donation forms part of the MP’s *Computer for Schools Project*, an initiative aimed at providing at least 20 computers to each of the 28 public JHSs in the constituency by the end of 2028.

The project targets a minimum of 560 computers and includes plans to construct fully equipped computer laboratories for deprived schools to improve access to digital learning facilities.

Speaking to the media during the presentation at the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kwarteng said the initiative was intended to equip students with essential ICT skills and improve their access to digital learning resources.

He explained that the choice of Mac computers was deliberate, as the devices would expose students to different computing environments and broaden their technological knowledge.

The MP estimated the total cost of the project at GH¢14 million, with funding expected to come from his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund and support from donor partners.

He said the project would be implemented in phases until the end of 2028 to ensure that all 28 public JHSs received at least 20 computers each.

Receiving the computers on behalf of the Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, who represented the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), expressed appreciation to the MP for the intervention and commended him for the initiative.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr George Alfred Koomson, also welcomed the donation, noting that the provision of computers would help bridge disparities in access to ICT facilities among schools in the constituency.

He assured the MP of the Education Directorate’s support in ensuring that the computers were properly maintained and effectively utilised for their intended purpose.
