The donation was in response to a furniture shortage that had affected more than 200 pupils at the school. It comprised 50 dual desks donated by the PTA and five round tables provided by the Assembly Member.

Mr Kwaw said the increasing enrolment had prompted the School Management Committee and the PTA to convene an emergency meeting, during which they agreed to procure additional furniture to improve teaching and learning.

He recalled that the PTA had previously donated 300 dual desks to the school about four years ago and commended the association for its continued support towards the development of the facility.

As part of his contribution, Mr Kwaw provided five round tables, each capable of accommodating at least six kindergarten pupils, to provide seating for 30 children.

He expressed concern that some pupils had been compelled to sit four to a desk, while children in the kindergarten block had to sit on mats during lessons.

Mr Kwaw commended the Ellembelle District Assembly for constructing a six-unit classroom block and ancillary facilities for the school. However, he appealed to the Assembly to provide additional furniture to address the remaining shortfall.

He also called on corporate institutions, including the Ghana National Gas Company and Eni, to support the school with the necessary furniture and other educational resources to improve the learning environment.

The Headteacher of Asemko DA Basic School, Mr Daniel Hackman, expressed appreciation to the Assembly Member and the PTA for their support, saying the donation would help address the furniture shortage and improve conditions for teaching and learning.
